Still working on commissions but in the meantime I wanted to make some new and improved art for an older story idea of mine, which is basically The Last Unicorn meets My Little Pony: A New Generation meets Raya and the Last Dragon meets a little bit of Wolfwalkers

In this universe, unicorns have the ability to disguise themselves as ordinary horses, and they're the guardians of life and nature. However an asshole poacher or a group of poachers pretty much drove unicorns to near extinction, hunting them for their horns or imprisoning them in exploitative zoo attractions. Consequentially, the disappearance of unicorns caused plants/trees to die out and water to dry up

Most unicorns went into hiding and nobody ever found them since. Meanwhile other unicorns lost their ability to transform somehow and now their descendants live as regular horses with no knowledge of their unicorn ancestry. That includes our protagonist Dawn, who lives with her parents on a run-down farm that is failing to yield crops without the unicorns. Though she and her kin are one of the few horses that look up to unicorns and worship them as godlike beings, they don't share Dawn's idealism that unicorns still actually exist somewhere and have just accepted them as extinct. Or never having existed to begin with.

Dawn eventually somehow learns that she's of unicorn descent and transforms into a unicorn herself. Her link to finding the unicorns is another fellow filly friend named Astra, a wild undomesticated unicorn who ran away from her home due to being tired of hiding. Then the rest of the plot threads are tied up. Dawn’s family unlocks THEIR unicorn forms, the poacher or group of poachers are defeated, and unicorns return to the world.
