I’m slowly building up my artistic skills by simply drawing things repeatedly and paying close attention to the works of all the talented artists I can find. I have a certain affinity towards any small, fuzzy rodent character, and one of the biggest problems I find when trying to draw a sword wielding mouse for my profile picture is that the whiskers get in the way of the face, but not including the whiskers makes it look less like a mouse. I see what you did here, by drawing the whiskers a short distance away from the face it still looks like whiskers, it still looks like a hamster, and if any explanation above ‘artistic license’ is required it’s not hard to believe their just too thin to see clearly. It matches the cartoonish view perfectly, it doesn’t distract from the coolness factor, its … that’s just too good an idea.
Commentary on the artwork itself, I love how it looks so much like a cartoon with the cell shaded colors and simple lines, while ALSO blending together perfectly and shaded just right to make it look epic. The effects are cool, the lightning doesn’t make it impossible to see the knifes in his hand, and the proportions of the characters arms and legs make it look like a hamster standing up to fight, rather than a pseudo human with bodily modifications to look like a hamster. I guess that’s the difference between ‘anthro’ and ‘feral’ but this picture is at a sweet spot somewhere between the two. Instant fave, instant watch, and this is all before I’ve looked through the rest of your gallery.
