This picture has also some things I was trying, like the reflecting ground, hair positions, expressions when there is fur covering the face.
Once ago I wanted to use the form of the body to animate a transformation in a bathroom (yes same as visible) of a woman turning into a big feral wolf and she standing in front of the mirror. The mirror was my biggest enemy and also different problems with the shape of the body, so I don't put any more effort into that idea. The wolf form is not really made for the generation the actor is, also it is normally a full-body apply and not single parts (body, feet+legs, chest+tummy+back, head, hands) and I am happy to managed to got it working without it looking weird.

Flip the camera would work as long the character is not touching mirror and the camera is placed in front of the body, it not working at scenes where the camera is behind the character or like the first 2 pictures of this Oh god my face... pictures. :)
Basically this would work, but it would not look great because the shadows would be generated different as with the mirror and if the camera would be at perspective that is not from the "eyes" position it is more difficult or even impossible to make a kind of copy, only to replace the mirror.
