Piers and Geno looked over, smiled, and winked, a glint in their eyes, right before they closed in on each other and their swords crossed again. Geno swept a wide arc, not with his sword, but his shield. Piers elbowed the wrist that held it and saw his grip loosen, and closed in when Geno neared the edge of the platform.
He saw his chance and swiped at the Gaomon once the shield was down, and saw him nearly lose his balance. Geno collected himself, then jumped up, over Piers’s head, and landed behind him, blocking the instinctive strike before Piers turned to face him.
“Nice try, Piers, but a simple trick like that won’t work on me!” Geno said, smirking.
“That was quite a jump!” Piers said, thinking about whether or not he’d be able to do that himself.
Geno caught a glint in his teeth, and jumped for Piers, but in all actuality, he created an afterimage of himself. He moved so quickly, that he wasn’t visible to the untrained, naked eye. He kept moving, creating more afterimages, showing Geno stabbing at him, sweeping at his legs, rolling towards him, all at once, but all of them mere illusions.
Piers looked back and forth at the copies. Finally, the real Geno fell from above him after leaping above him at blinding speeds out of sight, falling down to stab him. A single flick of the ears was the only sign Geno got before Piers lifted his sword, and intercepted him before he took a step back, sword held high.
“You’ll have to do better than that!” Piers said.
“How in the heck…? Oooh, you’re good.” Geno said, snickering.
Have a preview for tomorrow's installment of "The Chronicles Of B And Geno." In this chapter, Piers and Geno decide to have a good, old fashioned sword fight. But it does not take long before it becomes anything but old fashioned. How, you ask? Tune in tomorrow and find out! Enjoy, everyone!
