you don't have to worry about being realistic! pokemon is all about loving your team members, and working hard to bring out the full potential of all your pokemon... i mean, pretty much every pokemon game has the protagonist as a random 10 year old from a small town in the middle of nowhere - and you end up catching legendaries and becoming champion!! its not too farfetched (no pun intended) to have a team of pokemon you love hehe
