Yesterday I got the idea to turn Georgette into a snail after watching the 1940 Fleischer cartoon, “Ants in the Plants.” The Queen Ant had a snail that she rode like a horse, and the snail’s head looked more like a horse’s face with antennas. I decided to give Georgette that treatment, and I think it came out great!
Georgette is not a shapeshifter, but she does make for a pretty good TF victim. When you TF a character who doesn’t have shapeshifting abilities, you need to come up with a good reason why they’ve been transformed. The story I came up with is that Georgette was hanging out with Princess Keristone, who is very hyperactive. Georgette asked if they could slow down one too many times, so Keristone got fed up and turned her into a snail. “Now you can go as slow as you like!” laughed Keristone. At first, Georgette was annoyed that she could only move very slowly, but by the time I drew her second pose, she seems to have calmed down. She actually learned to like being a snail, and asked Keristone to leave her in Daisy’s garden for a few days before changing her back, so she could see the beautiful flowers and plants from a new point view. The garden felt like a jungle to the snail, and she made friends with the other bugs before she turned back into a giraffe. She promised to visit again some day.
