The reason is because the doctor sent the nightmare critters to retrieve the moon pendant that dogday has after catnap died
If simon wins he takes the moon pendant and returns it to the doctor
If dogday wins (which he dose) he earns simons respect and is able keep catnaps pendant and Simon offers his teams help to defeating the doctor once and for all
