Here's a reference for my original species, the Bogglyr, or as they're called in their own language, the Bgkglr! They're an omnivorous, amphibian-like cryptid that make their homes deep in bogs and other wetland habitats, far away from humans. They are highly intelligent, capable of complex speech, using tools, and building structures for protection. They mostly eat fish, insects, plants, and occasionally small birds and rodents, which can be eaten as is or prepared as dishes, but they do not cook their food and don't have access to fire. They can also see in the dark.
When moving through the water, their hair resembles algae, and said hair can come in a variety of colors. The spines on their backs are used for mating displays, often laying nearly flat when not in use. Their sleek bodies and webbed feet make them fast swimmers, and they're capable of a reasonable speed on land.
They have little to no interaction with humans, but when they do they often try to scare them away. Bogglyrs are capable of learning human languages if taught, their vocal chords able to make a wide range of sounds. Their own language sounds similar to the sounds of murlocs from WoW, but with a deeper cadence.
