The Ikonis - a piece of ancient technology that reacts to its user, shaping itself to a degree to the user's whim. In the case of Erol, he uses the Ikonis "Vanguard". When powered down it's a simple high-tech buckler, but when unlocked? The locking mechanism extends over his fist to become is main weapon, and the buckler extends outward, becoming a tower shield. The quantum energy generated by the Ikonis shining in defiance for the stoutsquatch to protect his charge.
While an Ikonis is normally one item, both the lock and shield are considered as one for the sake of being use; they couldn't be used separately from each other.
