I did a baldur's gate 3 playthrough where I basically roleplayed as Vivi (as much as I could) and I ended up seeing these two as like a big sister and little brother duo. Both living on borrowed time and just wanting to live. In my canon ending, they both became mindflayers together to avert there deaths. (Even if that technically isn't possible in the game.)
