This is another imag eI did before finishing Raven's pattern design. And the sad thing is, I like the framed picture I draw on the wall behind him, more then I like him in the foreground.
Believe it or not, that picture in the background was drawn separately, shrunk down, and had it's angle changed before it was layered into the the image.
God I suck at backgrounds, but I HATE having a blank slate behind my characters. As for the window in the background, let's just pretend it's Jasper's neighborhood, and Raven is inviting Jasper in.

Something else you can do with a blank background is placing a photo to it.
It can really complete the picture depending on the scenery.
