The beast sails away after the school of fish, while Ryan is left in the throes of a n oncoming change. The clammy feeling at his extremities is embodied by the discoloration of his skin. His fingers fuse to claws, his toes become webbed and dagger sharp. His spine forces itself out through his pants- a new appendage for balance and speed. His eyes hurting from the seawater begin to give a sharper image as membranes cover them, and his field of vision widens. His eyes are moving from their central place in his skull outward, pushed by cartilage and forcing his mask off- though he no longer needs it. He sees more of his nose- though as it melts into his face it can hardly be called that.
