A friend of mine will visit today. And since he loves Starbucks I decide to make him a Starbucks inspired birthday cake. Please tell me what you think of this. This is the most complicated cake I ever made and I love to hear what you think, ideas or even what you might do different
I used a basic coffeecake in this recipe. Which can be found here: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/62909962/. Made two layers of this.
Ingredients: (make sure all ingredients are at room temp)
-250 gram flour
-150 gram white castor sugar
-150 gram crystal sugar
-15 gram Espresso powder
-2 teaspoon baking soda
-3 eggs
-150 Milliliter milk.
-200 gram Butter
-Salt.
-Put baking paper in the cake form.
-preheat the oven at 170 degree (338 Fahrenheit)
-Mix the butter with the sugars and the salt (A little tip from me. if it looks like it will split, fill your sink with warm water and put the bowl in there for a minute or two, most splitting happens because someone uses to cold butter or milk)
-Mix the eggs one by one
-Siff the flour with the baking soda and the espresso powder, then mix this in ass well
-Add the milk in little bits.
-Put the batter in your cake form and bake it around 50 minute till done.
For the frosting I used a basic recipe with milk, which makes it a little bit easier to smear. Might not be the thick layer most American birthday cakes come with but for me it was more to be used as some sort of glue to hold the decoration.
Ingredients:
100 grams of cream cheese.
50grams of butter *1
75 grams of powdered sugar.
1 tsp of vanilla extract.
2-3 tablespoons of milk.
First mix the butter and the cream cheese.
Then add the powdered sugar and mix again.
Last, mix in the milk and the vanilla. If the frosting is to thick you can add more milk.
Crumble. So, in my country Starbucks has a pistachio month, which was my main inspiration for this cake.
Here is the link to the recipe I used (I think credit should be given where it's due)
https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cu_lQGqoU3P/
Ingredients:
100 grams of Pistachio nuts
100 grams of butter
70 grams of flour
40 grams of white chocolate.
2 grams of flaky salt
First blend the pistachio nuts into a fine powder. Then also add butter, sugar, flour, white chocolate and flaky salt. Mix this until it’s an even dough. Then spread it on a tray that’s lined with a silicon sheet and bake it at 150 degrees Celsius for around 25 minutes. Mix it every 5 minutes to create a delicious crumble.
Last, what most might think is the scariest but pretty easy, the chocolate bark.
Okay, i know it isn't really bark, it's missing some stripes and doesn't have the right color. But I don't have a paint spray nor the knowledge for it.
Just take some grocery chocolate and melt this in the double boiler. Don't use chocolate drops or something like that, this is harder to melt and won't mold as good.
Spread or some baking paper and pour the chocolate here. Then roll it up and simply put it in the fridge. When you roll it back (Warning, it will stick on the other side) you can break it in how big or small you want the pieces to be. I do recommend using cold hands for this to now melt.
*1: If you work with butter a lot you might notice your hands get greasy. My tip, use dish soap or lemon juice instead of hand soap. it helps, believe me.
