In the summer months, when students are away visiting their loved ones back in their home cities, the professors and staff of Magistrum City can begin to enjoy their time off. Their workloads, without the need to guide, teach, or protect the student body, are lightened enough to afford the luxury. Taking advantage of the Magistrum-owned beach resort, both Volpes and Az coordinated their leave to share it together.

It was an odd experience for the two of them, but for the better. In all the time they had know each other, the decades spent as co-conspirators and criminals in the oppressive Oplentian regime, they had rarely known a moment of true peace. Back then, with Az under Volpes's mental suggestions, there always an undercurrent of mistrust, neither one of them ever truly sure if the connection they shared was genuine.

But to them, that might as well have been a lifetime ago. They know now that their relationship is true, forged through a personal connection and collective struggle. Volpes knows that Azurium always had his back, from the moment they founded the Titan Syndicate. And Azurium knows that his feelings had naught to do with the brainwashing he was once put through, and later cured of.

These two old beastkin have found peace, and found each other. Once the most feared and respected criminals on the mean-streets of Oplentis, they are now just old men enjoying a holiday with all of the other couples on their romantic getaways.

As easy as it would have been to commission Valentine's Day art of Edmund and Morty, when I saw this beautiful YCH from  Marsel-Defender, I knew if was just perfect for my wonderful, ex-criminal duo, Azurium and Volpes. They too deserve love and affection, especially from each other.
