With her son's guitar in hand, Cinder found Aaron at the newly opened Maretime Station, angry and upset. Maybe hijacking a concert, taking his guitar, and trying to make him perform a cover of a song he doesn't even like wasn't the best way of showing she cared about him. She didn't even recognize her dad's (and Aaron's grandfather's) old guitar until her mother pointed it out. With the concert under control (and going back to what was originally planned), the only thing Cinder needed to do that night was make things up with her son. Through their conversation, Cinder realizes how distant she's become from Aaron, and how the assumptions she made about him have hurt her son. Then Aaron says something that really hit her, "Ever since Dad died, I feel like I don’t even know you anymore." This made Cinder realize how Corvin's death affected her relationship with Aaron. How her investment in her job was only taking Aaron's feelings for granted, how his sudden love for music was his way of getting over his father’s death and he was willing to anything to protect his grandfather's guitar, and how she should never have believed that stupid corrupt principal. To Aaron, going back to Flameborough won't mean anything if he didn't have his mother, truly, back. Cinder does try to apologize to Aaron, leading to him picking up his guitar and begin strumming a tune she knows all to well, Hotel Alicornia, one of her favorite songs. She didn't even notice that Aaron learned a song that means so much to her, but the look on Aaron's face said it all. If she meant that apology and everything she said to him right now, then she should remember all the lyrics to this song. So she began singing "On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair, warm smell of collitas, rising up through the air" As she continued singing, a smile began to creep from Aaron's face as he soon joined into the chorus. So as the lights of the concert in Maretime Bay shined, the mother and her son shared a moment at that train station that felt like they never had in years. In that moment, Cinder realized that this is what Corvin would've wanted, for her and for Aaron.
