Once upon a time, a copper-furred deer was among a village of animal people abducted by the forces of the nefarious Dr. Eggman. She was the first of those prisoners bound for the Roboticiser, and wound up becoming one of the Doctor's mindless metal slaves.
Of course, a certain blue hedgehog wasn't going to stand for this. Seeing the Blue Blur bearing down on the prison transport at Mach 1+, Eggman had the deer-bot hastily reconstructed into a combat unit in the hopes of subduing his nemesis. The following fight went about as well as one might expect, and the weaponised deer-bot was only a temporary speed-bump on Sonic's mission to rescue the prisoners, trash the prison ship, and save the day.
It's unclear whether it was due to the fight with Sonic or the transport's crash, but when the abandoned deer-bot awoke in the remains of the ship, something had been knocked loose and left Eggman's mind control disabled. Verdigris was herself again... mentally, at least. Determined to complete her restoration, she set about rebuilding the damaged Roboticiser into a Deroboticiser in the hopes of becoming an organic deer again.
Her first and only test of the cobbled-together machine was both painful and only partly successful. Verdigris doesn't know whether the failure of the device was due to damage incurred during the crash, her upgrades interfering with the transformation, or her screwing up her repairs, but the result is the same: the Deroboticiser was irreparably broken and Verdigris was turned into a cyborg, caught halfway between flesh-and-blood deer and metal-plated Badnik. Now living in seclusion in the converted remains of the transport, Verdigris maintains the hope that she'll figure out a way to fully reverse her roboticisation... though she has to admit, having rockets and a laser blaster does come in rather handy.

My Sonic OC, in full ref sheet form! And yes, I fully confess that she's more than a little reminiscent of Bunnie Rabbot and Clove the Pronghorn.
