its a thing that's been done for decades now (back then using regular car batteries)
you free a lot of space by removing removing the engine and most of the drivetrain setup that you can use for other things
especially on something like a truck (not to mention that you can always sacrifice some bed space for even more batteries if desired)

I heard that in parts of the EU they're working on a variety of kits that can be used for different body types, and that they might be trying to subsidize it. Wish we could have that where I live :( An EV without all the modern infotainment bullshit would be amazing. Also it just makes sense to give life back into vehicles rather than throwing them away and completely making new ones from the ground up.
