J - Kendra (
KodaLynx) showing her erudition to a rare bookseller. Blackwing.
F - Giving myself a hug. Watercolor.
M - The MC3 in the woods. The Detroit crew from Trashflower Pack, the only ones I will confirm survive through the story as their teammates get picked off. Tallie, Clare, and Liss, they're just dumpster fire jarhead werewolf dykes but they're MY dumpster fire jarhead werewolf dykes. Watercolor.
A - "My Willow Pony," an experiment with the aliens on my werewolf planet. Since I didn't have color schemes for any of them yet, in a black and white comic, I decided to make them be MLP characters so they could be neon. Watercolor.
M - Art therapy of me in my happy place. You guys know "Paradise" is literally from a persian word for a middle eastern style garden? There's a reason. Watercolor.
J - A commission for Kodalynx of him and Bagheera from the Soviet Jungle Book. The ideal woman. Posca. (Drawn in an Airbnb on Naxos where a local stray cat fell in love with me and I broke her heart. I hope it came through in the art.)
J - My sister I roomed with over Anthrocon broke her elbow hours after I went back home. Made this to comfort her from a distance. Watercolor.
A - Shace and Andy playing Chess, while the third leader of the Trashflower Pack, Scott the long-term strategist, ruins the mood. They're much harder to write, since they speak in two different conlangs and a fantasy dialect of Yiddish, and I have to translate their words before slogging through "now how would they fuck it up and say it in English." Nib pen and ink.
S - My submission for Illinois' state flag redesign contest. The rising sun over wheatfields, the "crossroads of the nation" with three lines for Rail, Road and Water. (The sun can be airplanes.) There are 21 points where the lines intersect, for the order it joined the union, and it has 18 areas of white space on two sides of the center line, since it was founded in the year AD 36. (Nah, it was 1818.) It didn't make the finals. I'm proud of it, though. Gouache.
O - More Wild Children art. Spoilers, but it's the chapter "Pastoral Interlude With Flames." Fire girl has to sleep on the weathervane so she doesn't burn down the house. Inverted ink and digital.
N - Book cover commission, "Politically Correct Peter Pan". Watercolor.
D - Christmas Card commemorating a family reunion on Naxos with relatives from Athens for their last year in Greece before moving. Dasher as one of those obnoxious Greek retirees we all know and "love." So far their dog Μπρίκι has adapted to "snow" with minor novelties, even if my uncle hasn't. Ink and Gouache.
