Original Species: Gorhan'ahboob
The Gorhan'ahboob is one of the most massive wyverns that inhabit the continent of Shangrila. This heavy-set flying reptile is so heavy that it needs additional air sacs to stay airborne. It soars through the skies searching for prey.
The Gorhan'ahboob evolved its muscular frame for one specific reason: it mainly hunts Crystal-Horn Juggernauts. Over the course of centuries, the two species became intertwined in a generational arms race: when one grew larger, the other followed suit. However, this makes one species more vulnerable than the other.
If the Crystal-Horn Juggernaut were to go extinct, the Gorhan'ahboob would struggle to find prey large enough to sustain it. It is a slow flyer, focused on raw power rather than speed and agility. Even if it could find suitable prey outside of its native range, this flying beast would soon be outcompeted by other, more nimble flyers.
Still, while it is a vulnerable species, the Gorhan'ahboob is the true master of its environment. It can easily traverse vast distances on its powerful wings, and its heavy frame keeps it stable even during the harshest dust storms. In fact, that is when this wyvern is most active. It uses dust storms as cover while hunting, using the billowing wind and dust to sneak up on unsuspecting prey, and then wrestling it down to the ground.
During clear weather, its blue wings and light underside help it camouflage against the blue sky.
Author's note: Gorhan'ahboob's name is a "mutated" version of the arabic term for a massive dust storm (haboob). More specifically it should be read similarly to "grand haboob" just... well, there is no way of saying otherwise, grand haboob but is a Japanese person would try to say it (a bit of that "Ingurishu"). Not 1:1 but somewhere along those lines.
