Ordering this deck was a whole journey. I’d never been part of such a big project before, and seeing my character included in it felt unreal from the start.
The process was super transparent. You choose your card and pay a flat fee and
Hioshiru desides how you would look on it. They posted constant updates—sketches, line art, flat colors. But that transparency also came with pressure. When it was my turn for feedback, I realized my main reference was almost ten years old. I had newer stickers, but piecing together the “right” version of my bird sona felt a little messy. I was worried I’d be “that person” with too many tweaks.
Hioshi was patient but didn't allow major changes. They adjusted the paws, tweaked the beak, changed the eye color from solid black to amber - small things that meant a lot to me, especially when the pose itself was locked.
It was kind of “like the art hate the artist” situation. I felt confused when their boyfriend DMd me like a busybody with “(hioshi) complains about you. Don't you hurt Hio, or I'll bite you >~>”. Like... dude... I'm in dialogue with the artist and trying to work out how to best make it look good without major changes - what it has to do with you?
Now, when it arrived i like how it turned out, it's cool. 52 russian furries doing magic with their hands) I accidentally tore the box the moment I tried opening it for the first time - are you even surprised at this point?
