kingdom come dergliverance lmao
So dragons in my setting, despite being typically 'quadrupedal', are capable of a bipedal stance on their hind legs. Their scales provide some natural protection, but it is still worth wearing heavier artificial armour on top if they can afford to eschew flight. The weight alone would make flight impossible, so it also opens up the opportunity for wings to be used as additional limbs for weapons when fighting on the ground.
It is difficult to provide full armour for a dragon, mainly because of their wings. They prevent a breastplate/cuirass from being easily fitted all the way around the torso in the manner of human armour, so the wing membrane may have to be pierced in places to keep it secure. The wing armour may also need to be specially fitted to go around the limb while leaving a gap for the membrane. To be honest, I am not an expert in armour nor in anatomy, so I don't know how feasible this would be.
The story I am currently writing is based on 12th century history, so unfortunately there won't be this type of late medieval plate armour around yet... but it was too fun of a concept for me *not* to draw.
