Fun fact: this is called "Semantic satiation". You're firing the exact same cluster of neurons in your brain over and over again, which sends your body into a panic mode that thinks these neurons must be overreacting or malfunctioning. So it sends inhibitors to them, reducing their function. The end result is that for a short while your pattern recognition for that word doesn't work anymore, but instead is just perceived as meaningless sound/letters.
