In the zone, you made do with what you can find.
Karob kept that in mind as he gutted two wild boars and drained them of their blood into the old, dented pot. He carefully pulled out and cut apart choice organs before adding them into the stew; lungs, intestines, hearts, whatever offal that Cartesians like him knew not to waste.
Now, vinegar, spices and many such garnishes were bound to be rare in the zone. But, Karob had been lucky when he looted one of the many vacant houses and discovered culinary gold in its overgrown pantry.
Wasting no time, he poured, mixed and stirred as his makeshift dinuguan boiled and took hold upon the campfire he made. There was no garlic, unfortunately. But he had to make do with what he found, and this was practically gourmet out in the anomaly-infested wilds.
The flame dying, Karob took out a can emptied of its leftovers and scooped up his Cartesian concoction. Hot and hearty.
He could not wait.
