I've worked with a few savants in the past. They've always had something going on upstairs. On the other hand, I've also worked with genuine airheads, the kind of total flakes who can't keep a thought in their heads (hint: you don't want to hire them as security guards).
On the other hand, one of my bosses is an interesting character in this way: he can't compose a simple declarative English sentence on paper but he speaks English and Italian fluently. He's so good with arithmetic that he does his income taxes in his head. He's been a plumber and HVAC technician for over 40 years. (* shrugs *) He'll never starve.

I can appreciate that. I have found that whatever thoughts go on in my head, it is enough to record them and then type them out and then put them in a proper somewhat discernible order. I don’t know why that is but it just is. I can think volumes, but I can’t write one bloody sentence in a hurry.
