Adoption - a Thursday Prompt 365 challenge
I have been a bit of a writing slump lately (that happens) but, as soon as I open a page and begin, the creature inside of me smiles, and sighs as if just sipping a very fine whiskey.
This particular piece reflects a whole lot of truth. (believe it or don't) Writers will understand this truth. We are the Lost Boys of Peter Pan's world.
And now I am off to wash the dog.

...And the internet is made of cats, so I'm right at home! *chuckles* But yeah, definitely a whole lot of truth right there, and that was a really cute and fun little story, too. Although I have to admit, I often (waaay too often) can't resist those yelling voices and end up adopting a bunch of the characters that are put out there by many artists. BUT! While I may let them sit in a folder unused for lo-o-ong amounts of time, I take a lot of delight from making them my own and finding ways to fit them in my world and interact with them. As a matter of fact, it's an incredibly fun and interesting process to just come up with a name and some basics, and then plop them into my world and write about them to interact with them, and let them show me exactly who and what they are and how they react to the world around them and what kind of quirks they have >^_^<
I suppose, being a cat and therefore always doing everything just a bit different from the normal expectation, makes me a bit of a weird writer as well >~_^<

I read the Ready Player One book -- much better than the movie, Why movies made from books never really do it for me -- artistic differences between the vision of the cinematographer and my IMAGINATION.
Back in the days BC (before computers) Theater of the Mind is what your brain performed for you when read a book or were "watching the radio" (yes, people did stare at those old cathedral sets).
Pretend used to be one of the first games we played -- in the olden days -- a stick was a multi-function prop and it could be a sword, a rifle or anything. and a box was vehicle to explore the seven seas, the skies, or space.
There were scores of Imaginary Friends and Foes, from the monster in the closet to an invisible six foot tall talking rabbit and beyond.
Smart devices are making us dumber.
