Faux-claymation I made last year
I originally made this during a 3D animation class. It was basically a proof of concept for the animation I would create as a final assignment. The 'concept' was that I just found out about shape keys and I was about to make a whole short out of them. Basically, it lets you animate a model - without having to puppet it to an armature - by distorting the mesh itself. You can literally shape-shift your characters in Blender. Of course I would milk the feature!
(Also, I created the play-dough look by using this tutorial.)
The following summer, I considered adding the characters in the full short to my character roster for Artfight - but I was too embarrased to show off the animation. The timing is really janky, and there are a few straight-up errors..
This submission is not identical to the test anim I showed my professor. I've touched up some of the arcs, and added a little stage for him to stand on. I eventually had to stop myself from touching it up for eternity.
