The thornberry harvest is a tough time on the inhabitants of the Thornwood. The fruit is delicious, juicy, versatile, but the plants are covered with fine, sharp thorns. The top of the fruit has five points at the part where the stem of the plant joins the fruit. Picking the fruit is hazardous enough, but the stems may break off leading to a problem for those that handle the fruit. By the end of the day, everyone is riddled with small punctures.
Katya has been helping carrying baskets from the fields to the kitchens for processing all day. It has been a long tiring day, Gradientia has been in the fields keeping the field hands patched and inflated as the harvest is realized. She's a little squishy and leaky, but a good sleep will have her ready for another work day, probably after a nice breakfast of fresh berries!
