Like, hey if I was in her position, struggling to find my place in the world of sports through years of trying and never getting picked up, only for now to finally get picked for the team I went for despite the coach having it out for me to get kicked out and by a miracle I get in, I'd be really scared of screwing up and blowing my first day as part of it because a hotshot from God knows where comes up and seems far better than me, just saying that if I ever went to her and said something stupid, I'd ask my friend to stop me should I begin to talk crazy

And even if you want her to be a "anime protag who wants to be impossible to ignore", perhaps she could do that without being a massive dick to Honouchi who just got there and doesn't even know who she is.
