Originally, Malik was the imp familiar for a warlock character I'm currently playing in a 5e campaign at the local game shop, but in this incarnation he's a furry character and Sha'ira's pet. Most of the time he's the little devil sitting on her shoulder, guiding her though the ways of magic and occasionally causing a bit of mischief though he can also disguise himself as a plushie when the situation calls for discussion or taking the form of a hellhound to protect his mistress when someone gets a little to aggressive. Also, the name 'Malik' is Arabic, meaning "king," "master," or "sovereign," so it's a bit of a nod to the character: 'King' from Owl House.
