Last month, I had to make a picture for the "Ma Bulle" contest (Polymanga 2026), with the theme "Thanks".
And this idea crossed my mind.
What if there were crossings for small / slow animals in the deep forest ?
Big animals would have to slow down a bit, for not smashing them while running or else.
It's kind of a personal picture, as I saved a baby & a mom hedgehog some years ago, in my garden.
They are so cute animals, we need to be more careful about them and keep protecting them.
This illustration was a challenge for me to make, as it's the first time I worked background without lines (it's full painting).
I had to experiment a bit, and I still need practice. But I enjoy the result.
What do you think about it ? ~

It shows how much of your heart and soul poured into this! I just LOVE the background! It makes the characters stand out well. You did such a nice job! I hope I can pull off such backgrounds in the future; I feel I need to move in that direction too.
And I want to mention that these are some of the cutest hedgehogs I've seen in art. And the snail! And of course the fox is so cute how patiently but eternally curiously looking at those small forest creatures. It's a really heartwarming scene it's so nice to look at it. Can't get enough of all the details.
