Calliophis gracilis.
The Spotted Coral Snake, also called Gray Coral Snake, is a tiny and very slender elapid from the Calliophis genus which are commonly known as Asian coral snakes. It occurs in the very southern part of Thailand.
Not much is known about this attractive serpent; although there are no documented bites, this snake's venom is considered dangerous and should be thus handled with care.
The Latin name Calliophis derives from the Greek words kallos (καλός), meaning “beautiful” and ophis (ὄφις), meaning "snake”, thus translating to beautiful snake which is an apt description of these snakes whose members often exhibit stunning colours and iridescence.
