Day 481 - January 28th, 2742

While Mayor Ariel is still on route to meet with McGrath, I had the chance of meeting the Acting-Mayor in her absence. Good fellow, named Lucas. Kinda feels like an Ariel Jr. almost. He served under Ariel back in STEEL when she was still a field captain. He was her lieutenant.

He told me the story of how they both left STEEL, and yeah, makes sense why they now oppose them.

It was sometime 2731 when Ariel was in command of a sizeable force on a distant planet. They were tasked with eliminating a group of rogue STEEL scientists that were conducting experimentations on innocent people with anomalous powers.

Seemed pretty clear cut, right? Well, when they arrived and were able to identify the extent of the depravity they were conducting. Mutated and mentally damaged individuals all over, their mission changed from elimination... to take them in ALIVE.

Disgruntled, but they pressed on. Passing by an unknown number of victims to this madness. Some of the scientists had managed to override the local security and had drones, turrets, and other automated defenses that the team had to battle through.

But when they came across the scientists, furious at the atrocities they witnessed. They got new orders to STAND DOWN and protect any assets at all costs.

Those fuckers saw what these bastards were doing and EMBRACED it. Called it a breakthrough as no non-wielder had been capable of harnessing anomalous powers without an external power source like void stones.
