Journal entries written by the village elder of a Māori tribe located on Te Waipounamu, the Southern Island of New Zealand.

Entry 1

"I am not sure I should consider this a blessing or a curse from Ranginui. The monster that fell outside of our village has once again opened it's eyes. There are differences from the rebirthed monster, glowing rocks have grown out of its' back and the eyes glow as bright as the stars. We were able to escape the fury of the beast before but I cannot be certain if we will be so lucky the second time. My hope is that Ranginui and Papatūānuku have given the gift of life to a new and strange Taniwha."

Entry 2

"Monsters keep attacking our village each and every night, but we have remained safe! The Atua have answered our cries and the Taniwha has fought off any creature that has attacked us. Taniwha 'Maxwell' has shown to be a friend of us and in return, we accept him as a powerful warrior and welcome him to our home. Tonight is the Taniwha's Powhiri, it is the least we can do."

Entry 3

"Our village was destroyed by a powerful monster. Taniwha Maxwell did defeat the raging beast but it was at the cost of our home. However, in the heat of battle, Maxwell consumed and swallowed us. Yet we remain unharmed, in fact… it was a relief for we would have perished in the fight. He has revealed his power to us, the ability to not only protect us from harm within his body. We believe the crystals on his back allow him to shift gravity to his whim. I proposed a deal to him, if we can rebuild on his back and use his stomach as shelter, we will provide him with everything he needs."

Entry 4

"Taniwha Maxwell agreed to the deal, my people are thriving off of the resources that he provides for us and he is happy that he has a group to call his Whānau."

A new OC that I have been roleplaying with friends in a RP server. He's my attempt at a more friendly macro pred since I wanted to explore some more endo and willing stuff recently.

His species is Sea Leopard because you don't see a lot of Sea Leopard anthros and they're neat lil guys. The idea of the village living on his back and his stomach was inspired by The Wandering Village (Great game by the way!)

Maxwell's overall design and his tribe are based on the Maori people of lower New Zealand. A lot of the time I was working on this piece was spent doing research on a lot of different aspects of the culture including the outfit and tattoo designs. The tattoos were particularly a challenge as I wanted them to have meaning much like real Maori tattoos instead of just generic tribal tattoo designs.
