After five-to-six years, I made the tough decision to delete my TikTok account.

TikTok was a coping mechanism I used during the pandemic in 2020, which eventually led me to become a TikTok creator and then a Roblox TikTok creator.

I actually stopped uploading around January of last year because I thought it was going to be banned for good. However, while it wouldn’t be banned for long… The trust for the app started depreciating.

As close as the ban was, the president would always extend it, hoping for something out of the app. That rang sus in my head everytime and I never uploaded there ever again.

But then, during Christmas of last year, I wanted to come back and post more (Even adding all of the Advent videos from last year). Then the sale happened, and that’s when I closed my arms away.

There was apparently a problem with TikTok that caused it to stop working, the fyp broke, creators were getting 0 views, and it felt like they deleted the coconut image off TF2

But here’s the kicker: the new TOS is a complete sketch

You are agreeing to allow the new people in charge (Some of them being associated with the creature we’re supposed to call ‘president’) to look over your data, which now includes citizenship/immigration status(!?!)

How does someone even collect data for whether you’re a citizen or an immigrant? It feels illegal, and it makes me feel unsafe to even use the app, as I feel I’m risking my entire family’s livelihoods every time I post a video of Kitty getting hurt miraculously

They’re also collecting data for race, sexual preferences, mental/physical health diagnosis, and if you’re trans/non-binary. I feel so much safer knowing they’re getting data about what gender I’m attracted to, I say with concerned sarcasm.

They also community guidelined a majority of my content; Some involving TDS (Tower Defense Simulator), some involving dancing, and one of them was just a Blue's Clues ride.

There wasn’t anything inappropriate about the video; it was off-ride pov themed to f***ing Blue’s Clues from when I was still a coaster nerd. Do these new bastards hate Blue’s Clues?...

Or did they do that because the ride was located in Minnesota, which has a severe ICE raid going on in Minneapolis that left two innocent people dead due to careless ICE officials wanting to be tough?

If it’s the latter, then this is just blatant censorship.

It feels like they blacked out Minnesota from the search. It feels like they blacked out Minneapolis from the search. It feels like they blacked out ICE raids from the search. Hell, I wouldn’t be surprised if they decided to black out ‘Mall of America’ from the search

But either way, it’s one thing to risk the safety of my friends and family for data reasons, but they f***ed up by taking away my Blue.

A similar effect happened when Elon Musk took over Twitter. I wanted to give it a chance, but things got worse and worse, to the point I disabled my account last year. Every time I questioned my decision to leave, I had to remind myself of what Twitter has now become. Especially over the Grok problem.

I just don’t have it in my heart to keep TikTok around while the people who want people like us dead force their narratives down our throats while using our data to hunt us down like we were deer in hunting season.

To my barely 7.5k followers on TikTok, I’m sorry this has to happen. Just remember that it’s not your fault; you are a wonderful community.
