Yes, this year is the 40th Anniversary of Disney's The Great Mouse Detective. The most criminally underrated Disney classic masterpiece movie, which is also very important to Disney and it's history, whether they want to acknowledge this as a true fact or not, considering that the movie saved Disney from complete bankruptcy and pre planted the seed for the success of The Little Mermaid and afterwards beginning the Disney Renaissance era in the 1990s. Without The Great Mouse Detective, we wouldn't have The Little Mermaid and so many other cinematic masterpieces that came afterwards that many know and love.
Anyways, even though I still dream of the movie getting it's much deserved and long overdue redemption and comeback into mainstream, and for Disney to further promote the classic, recognizing it and bringing back the characters for the Disney parks. I sadly still doubt it's possibility, but I will still breathe life back into the fandom as much as I can until I die. And to be honest, Disney is still afraid to take risks and change things up, they are still more than comfortable being money hungry and constantly milking what is already overly popular and relevant, the same old movies and characters shoved down our throats and no actual surprises and variety. But I am a very bitter fan who dreams of much more than what Disney halfassedly and occasionally dangles in our faces as fans of the movie.
But to celebrate as a super fan and to pay tribute, I of course had to cosplay as Professor Ratigan again, and pop off confetti poppers to celebrate!
