Fish in the River was a tabaxi sorceress who, along with her adventuring party, was trapped in the Nine Hells and was participating in a bracket-style tournament in an attempt to win the ability to leave. She was grievously wounded and quietly replaced by Mephala, a tiefling who was likewise trapped. The deception wasn't discovered til the semi-finals, by which point it was too late to back out. The team won—barely—and Mephala continues to use Fish's appearance (and identity) in areas where tieflings stand out or are looked upon disfavorably.

I've been meaning to make ref sheets for the Disguise Self looks of my OTP for a while, and Mephala/Fish was the simpler of the two, so she got made first! Mephala has a keener eye for detail than Alexus so her look as Fish is pretty standard (whereas Alexus' appearance as Aarik can vary pretty wildly, excited to try to make a ref sheet for THAT lol), plush Fish is a pretty simple look overall, so!
