Had I seen this at posting, I would have started by guessing RC FI = TO ME. Then since you mentioned forgetting the key (and included Wikipedia text), I figured Vigenere was the way to go, suggesting a partial key of YOTE. Then since the last letter of that bit is either 17th or 18th, it wouldn't have taken long for me to try lining up COYOTE.
