In Egyptian mythology, a soul has to travel through many trials before it can go into the afterlife. Anubis will wiegh your heart against the feather of truth, and you must declare that you did no wrong in your life. If you lie, Anubis will know it. Kinda like Santa Claus. However, unlike Santa Claus, Anubis will feed you to the devourer, a crocodile/hippopotamus/lion creature. If Santa did that, there'd be a lot less naughty kids.
