Well, I've had the Dragon Queen as a character almost since joining the fandom, but I've never gotten around to drawing a fullbody picture of her until now.
The Dragon Queen is Princess Keristone's mother, and the wife of the late King Edmund. Edmund first met her when the rest of the world's western dragons returned to their home on Wetren after being exiled for many years, and while the Queen was at first angry at Daisy for bestowing Dragonhood on a mere mortal like Edmund, cursing her and Edmund by taking away their draconic powers, she later had an emotional crisis that Edmund helped her through. She restored his and Daisy's powers, and they soon fell in love and got married. Their marriage united the human Kingdom of Wetren to the Dragon Kingdom, and they ruled together for many happy centuries. King Edmund and The Dragon Queen were famous for their generous use of magic, regularly hosting lavish public balls where the kingdom was invited to come and be transformed into an animal of their choice for the night.
Eventually Edmund and the Queen's love resulted in a daughter, the Princess Keristone. For a few years, the three were a happy family, but all that changed when Edmund was slain in his dragon form by some traitors who didn't like their ruler taking on non-human forms. In her grief and anger, the Dragon Queen cursed the Island of Wetren so that any human that set foot on it would be transformed into an animal, and that Wetren itself would become a Phantom Island, disappearing from the memory of the world and almost impossible to locate. Nowadays the Dragon Queen is a very stern and distant mother to Keristone. She resents her love of shapeshifting, as she believes a Dragon Princess should not "degrade" herself by taking on the forms of "lesser beings" unless absolutely necessary, but also because it reminds her of Edmund, whose side of the family is the one Keristone seems to take after. Consequently, Keristone turns to Daisy when she needs someone to be there for her. Daisy wishes the Queen would return to her old self so she and her daughter could have a better relationship, but she doesn't push her. Rather, she gently challenges her to be more tolerant. Dragons are powerful beings, and powerful beings have powerful emotions, so Daisy knows it could take centuries for the Queen to finish grieving. However, Daisy tries to help her get there eventually.
As hardened as the Dragon Queen may be, there are still moments where she is happy enough to smile. This being one of those moments.
