Aik Ter-Akopan - is a gryphon from the ancient Angkh clan. Born in the western mountains around Lake Van, he currently resides in southern Russia near Krasnodar. He is a devout griffin who serves as the unofficial protector of the city's main church. After the collapse of the Urartu Empire and its subsequent restoration as the Armenian Empire, griffins swore allegiance to the new kings, and they even served as bodyguards and the emperor's personal loyal troops during the reign of Tigran II. After the official adoption of Christianity in Armenia, the griffins, in order to set a good example for the inhabitants, adopted Christianity en masse and took the protection of the church under their wing. During the loss of statehood, the griffins of the Armenian Highlands were attacked and gradually exterminated, leaving them no choice but to fly deep into the mountains. This culminated in 1915, when the Ottoman Empire, terrorizing the Armenian people, committed genocide. The griffins attempted to protect the population, which resulted in the near-extinction of the species.
