The only real problem I always have with this is that I would LOOOOVE to experience what being a pawn feels like, especially once you go fully inanimate.

BUT, as someone who DOES generally enjoy being able to move, I wouldn't want this to be permanent haha, and unsure if I'd be willing to gamble on someone winning and releasing me eventually haha.

Still, can't help but wonder what it would feel like!

I imagine it would feel like being completely relaxed. Your muscles can't be tense if they don't exist anymore and you don't have to make an effort to hold yourself up anymore. You don't have to expend effort don't anything in fact, objects just passively exist as themselves.

Though for people used to moving it could get boring very quickly. Unless part of the process of going inanimate involves a more object oriented mindset. Dropping all the emotions involved in acting or reacting to the world and becoming a passive observer.

Digging their desire to be beat and perma-pawned, but still doing their best to win despite it! <3

How about I mix you up an elixir which makes you had at chess, so that way you lose without throwing the game? Only cost… could you win a few pieces for me, please? For returning to sentience, obviously.

That's just throwing the game with extra steps!

Though if you make an elixir that makes the other person really good at chess that might work.
