Sylvia is a dryad, a nature spirit in an alternate dimension. A forest goddess, she is a chaotic good being that seeks to help adventurers in need of guidance. New arrivals to the world like Mackenzie are initially shocked not only to be in a new world but also to be transformed, and dryads are on the few beings that are aware of their origins and can talk to them about their destinies.

Sylvia has a flighty playul personality, as fits her status as being of nature, but her people do take their job as guides seriously, or at least tie their playfulness into helping out others. She knows Mackenzie has been brought to this world to fulfill part of a prophecy, and will show up from time to time to guide her on her way. It's just fun to bounce Mackenzie's Texan down to business attitude off of Sylvia's cloudcookoolander spontanaity.
