In a moment of weakness I bought a Steam Deck OLED.

It was collecting dust and I had regrets about buying "the same console twice". But now the beautiful display is growing on me.

I'm using the LCD version docked as a PC and the OLED as a handheld. 🦊

The game is Shadow Man: Remastered. A dark, metroidvania Tomb Raider clone from 1999 and one of my favourite video games of all time. It's a love it or hate it affair. You platform and shoot your way through sprawling labyrinthine levels with nothing but your own sense of orientation and memorisation to rely on.

It has a spooky synth soundtrack and a cool and unusual story. You play as a voodoo demi god who can travel between our world and the world of the dead and has to stop 5 immortal serial killers lead by Legion from bringing about the apocalypse.

I think the only other game that comes close in terms of setting and gameplay is Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver but even that doesn't quite hit the same strings for me. Shadow Man is pretty unique.
