A good day with no delay is rare for Bethany the engineer. So she decides for reward herself with a nice filling meal.
Time for another new OC of mine. Here's Bethany, the locomotive engineer of a Blaziken, who also happens to be a shiny pokemon.
Quick(ish) backstory of her is that, back when she was a wild pokemon, she was exploring a human city during the early morning hours, when she would stumble the city's railroad museum where she saw a massive steam locomotive being prepped for a excursion train it would be pulling. For some reason, Bethany felt in awe of the large machine, moving and sounding like if it were a living thing. Since then, she would start appearing at the museum (in secret) to see the steam engine as well as other locomotives the museum had.
One day, she would stumble across a certain human who had just started to volunteer at the museum and befriend him. The human would bring the Blaziken with him on days he'd be helping out with various restoration projects the museum had. Bethany would help too, of course, as she learned the history and working of the machines (the larger steamer especially) and eventually learned how to operate them as the engineer as time went on.
Nowadays, the Blaziken spends her days as the main locomotive engineer for the museum operating both passenger and the few revenue freight trains the museum has, in both steam and diesel locomotives. Gaining a reputation, not just for being a shiny/pokemon engineer but also never being late while always being safe as much as possible and her custom-made uniform. Her being a voluptuous lady might have something to do with it also.
In the days she isn't at the museum, she's with her human (when he isn't being hogged by a certain Zoroark) going out to various locations in the regions to watch trains go by and visit various railroad artifacts.
So Bethany's been at the back of my mind for almost a year now since I'm quite a bit of train nut irl. Any railfans that might follow me (tho I expect none to be tbh), might have picked up on that Scarlett in both terms of her name and her nose pattern may be a reference to my favorite paint scheme/railroad. I've always wanted to have an engineer/railroader of a Pokemon OC and for some reason I always wanted it to be fire type. Originally it was actually going to be Nataly, but I decided to change it for a number of reasons, but mainly her large nine tail in the cab of a locomotive can be pretty awkward.
Anyway, I'm still working on her design, mostly her uniform. I might make it into some more traditional overalls inside of the single piece that zips up from the back but idk yet.
Bethany is my character.
