AND HERE IT IS! Here's the official reference sheet for Xael the Riolu! 2026 Edition.
It was a bit tricky to land the design in terms of accessories but I am quite happy with it, and hey, if giving a character a scarf makes them look cool, giving them wraps should make Xael look even cooler!
Or should I say... Coolly!
Note: His design in Chapter 1 up to Chapter 10 and further (as of making this) remain the same, this is how he looks like 4 years down the line.
And this is how I will draw him moving forward.
Fun facts:
- He used to rock a lot of fluff in his chest but decided to trim it down for practicality.
- The wraps on his shins are made of a flame resistant clothing that shields him from using too much heat on his Blaze Kick attacks, they also serve to hide his injuries.
- I also kinda gave a hint at this at the previous Holidays artwork!
