Closer look to the details on the commission previously uploaded <3 Wanted to show her beautiful, sparkly scales. Such gorgeous details!
Spellbound
The harsh mountain winds of the Kun-Lai Summit tore and howled around their scales as Rahizzira and Avaríus stood shoulder to shoulder, gazing into the treacherous pass ahead. Loose debris and veils of snow spilled endlessly from the higher peaks, as though the mountains themselves were warning them away. The cold gnawed at the edges of their wings, yet neither retreated.
“I can shield us both to get us through with no scratch.” Rahizzira said.
Avaríus studied her in silence for a heartbeat longer than necessary, the corners of his mouth lifting with familiar mischief before he answered. “You can’t even fill a small hole in your garb. How do you want to shield us?” His slight laugh echoed across the stone and ice, carried away by the wind.
Rahizzira’s jaw dropped as she stared at him, affronted but bright with fire. “I can – easily – shield us both! Weaving fabric is an entirely different type of magic.” She paused, drawing herself taller despite the gale. “I am shocked you even dare hint at this. I am an excellent mage!”
The challenge hung between them like charged air.
“C’mon now your portals have killed more than one sentient being … but very well proof your shielding then.”
With deliberate ease, Avaríus lifted his hand, a tiny sphere of draconic flame dancing above his palm, its glow reflected in his eyes. The smirk he wore was infuriatingly fond.
Rahizzira blinked, hesitating only for a moment before resolve settled into her posture. She stepped back, focused and summoned her magic. Arcane energy surged around her, swirling into an egg-shaped barrier that shimmered with pink and violet hues. Yet the spell wavered, her channeling imperfect, her thoughts pulled astray by the nearness of him.
“Fine …” she said.
Avaríus shifted as he watched her falter, amusement flickering across his expression, but instead of mocking her or releasing the fireball, he moved. In a single fluid motion, he surged forward, curling around her protectively. His green magic bled into her arcane, the energies weaving together until the barrier thickened and hardened, radiant and unyielding.
"You might falter on your own, but together nothing can stop us ~"
His voice was soaked in warmth and devotion, each word wrapping around her more securely than any spell. Rahizzira chuckled softly and leaned closer, lifting a finger to trail it along the glowing shield. The colors responded to her touch, swirling and deepening like a living thing.
"You have a way with your words that make them pierce through any shield I am able to cast and you always strike me defenseless in a matter of seconds, you know that?"
Avaríus smirked "Such a shame to see a talented mage like you so defenseless, but let's do this..."
His grip tightened, gentle yet certain, as he leaned down and pressed a kiss to her snout. Rahizzira did not resist. Instead, she slid her arms around him, pulling herself closer, refusing to let him escape with such restraint. She tilted her head and sought his lips, returning the kiss with a passion that flared like wildfire.
There was something about casting spells together that stirred her deeper than she cared to admit. Avaríus thrilled at the feel of her scales against his, the heat within him building with every heartbeat. Around them, sparkles of green and pink magic drifted downward, the snow itself pushed aside as though unwilling to intrude.
The barrier Rahizzira had cast earlier surged stronger, fed by emotion as much as intent. Arcane power hummed a sweet, resonant song around them, burning brighter with every second they remained entwined. She poured more energy into the spell the closer she drew to him, magic answering desire without hesitation.
And for good reason.
He set her alight from the inside, igniting something fierce and effortless within her, making even the most volatile spells feel natural in his arms.
