The Yiaantani Dragon are one of the Original 8 species of Laramidia and Appalachia before the Tannin and are also the Largest of the 8 Dragon Species undergoing Oceanic Gigantism thanks to the buoyancy granted to them by the water, and they have the longest expected lifespan. Tannin tend to live for about 200 years, Yiaantani can exceed 500 and have a long memory since they tend to migrate rather than stay in one place. While they are still capable to returning to land if they so chose they have decided to dwell in the oceans, mainly to the West of Laramidia and have remained unseen for thousands of years thanks to their unique aquatic adaptations.
Almost all dragons have a passive magical Levitation ability that allows them to exceed the wing to body ratio that would normally limit flying creatures in our world, allowing them to take flight. The Yiaantani's power has changed however to a sort of density control that helps them resist pressure changes in the ocean allowing them to float glide along undersea currents or become more dense and walk along the reefs and sea floor much in the same was as a Hippopotamus, and if they breach the water they can still glide the air but don't like to do it for a long period of time.
Their coloration offers them camouflage being seen from above and below; The dark blue of their top blends in with the water looking down and the white of their belly blends in with the light columns looking up, plus they also have bioluminous spots along their body that help them attract prey or camoflague. Light seems like a strange camouflage but this is a real technique in nature especially in the shallows. If an animal can see your shadow they can approximate that there is something above them and either hide or go to attack! Shine some light though and the shadow becomes fainter and looking up the animal is hidden among the rays of light coming from above them, and with a long neck they don't need to move very far in order to snatch prey that doesn't notice them.
In the Dark depths of the sea, many animals will also utilize light to attract or confuse other animals. It can also be used as a signal to let other dragons of their kind know where they are but the Yiaantani have adapted sonar and electroreception in order to communicate long distances and detect other creatures in their surroundings. They can also generate their own electric pulses like an Electric Eel to stun other creatures and communicate with other Yiaantani, and make their own Oxygen by splitting the Oxygen from the Hydrogen in the water so they don't need to breach for air and leaves hydrogen as a byproduct that they can make explosions with.
These are all mostly natural abilities of their Physiology. Their magic manifests in their blood, not meaning they need to Bleed to do magic but Blood is the closest thing in our body to sea water having started as literally sea water in an open system to distribute nutrients around an early multicellular body. Rather that being based around bleeding and death, their power is based around Vitality. They can use their power to heal themselves and others, become more adaptable to change and not freeze in below zero temperatures (Many of their temporary settlements are built into the underside of Icebergs) and even put vitality into something inanimate and make it Animate. This can be something simple like making a door that shuts upon the caster's command or they can create Golems that can act like a living thing thought their life is tied to that of their creator.
