Whenever I do an art trade (or gift), I usually do a couple of head shot test sketches in order to adapt the other artist's style to my own, which I have found, doesn't look like anything else in the fandom. This also helps in designing my version of the specific character. (note that I didn't do this for Arctic-Sekai's ice-cream contest, owing to time constraints)
This sketch is slightly different in that I've extended the practice to characters appearing in my comic, since the guest character's owner may not necessarily be an artist, so I have to generate my version from a composite of other artist's interpretations of the character.
With that, I present my version of
morrilefay's character "Brianna", the first of two guest characters scheduled to appear in the next installment of my comic, in a dual-tracked segment of the next set of goings-on. The final appearance of this character may appear a little differently in the actual comic, as I won't be able to draw her anywhere near as large as here, and the fact after I finished the sketch, I noticed a strong hint of Michele Light's style in this pic--which I consider really weird since it's been a long time since I've seen any of her work, and that I never tried to mimic her style (which is felt to be widely copied in this fandom)
Inked with a couple of Copic brush pens, which I'm using for only the second time since I bought them at Anime Expo NY 2002 (yeah, it's been that long)
(Edit 7/13/07: moved from scraps to the regular gallery, as this is essentially a complete B/W pic)
