Across the world, ancient ruins are a hotspot for tourism. Many people from different walks of life come to these locations to witness their wonders. However, not all of these attractions are friendly to visitors, as many have become infamous for disappearances. But for those who dare venture beyond the designated paths, uncovered secrets lie hidden just out of sight.
A little while back, I drew a sketch for a particular tiger. And as with many of my drawings, I wanted to hide an Easter egg within it. During the sketching process, I learned that we shared an interest in Aerospace, so we were geeking out about rockets while I drew their sketch. At the time, we were anticipating Blue Origin's first launch of their New Glenn rocket, and the mission was designated NG-1. When they requested I added a tag to their character's ear in the drawing, it only felt appropriate to designate them as NG01, and that became the easter egg with a free sketch attached to it.
woahne11y spent weeks trying to brute force it by attempting to tie it to other drawings, which wasn't the answer. He likely got weird targeted advertising after all Google searches he sent trying to find it. The funny thing is that, if he would of taken the 0 out of NG01 and just searched NG 1 he probably would have gotten it right away XD. But he did eventually find the reference!
I did mention this was a *sketch*... about that... This Easter egg was found close to a year ago, and I was having a really hard time getting started on the drawing. Lion was one of the potential animals he wanted, and a couple months ago, I randomly pitched an idea that involved us both turning into lions. I have a tendency to overdeliver whenever I include myself in someone else's sketch. This isn't the first time I've turned a drawing into a fully rendered project when it wasn't the original intention. There's something about being able to insert myself into the story that I can *really* immerse myself and the creativity flows in a way which feels endless. I got so invested in this project that I managed to complete it within a week, and I surprised myself with how motivated I was.
I basically asked for artistic freedom, randomly thought of putting us next to a lioness statue, and just went from there. I experimented a ton with this drawing and tried to turn off the perfectionism as much as possible (to some success). It made the process of exploring different things very enjoyable, and I had a ton of fun with this one!
Anyways, as always, I would love to hear what you think about this :)
