Leto is my latest character for D&D, having once been a scavenger and trader of old magical artifacts, arms, and armor from cataclysmic wars in centuries past. However, that would change when they were kidnapped and forced to work as slave labor for an elaborate bloodsport meant to entertain the criminal elite. Their knowledge saved them from becoming little more than a "contestant" to be slaughtered by one of the champions of "The Gauntlet", instead landing them the role of blacksmith's assistant. Over the course of a couple of years, they would learn to forge their own tools and armor, and would even take the resident blacksmith's place in creating special weapons and armor for The Gauntlet's champions when he fell ill.

Leto would hatch an elaborate escape plan, by befriending one of the champions, and personally forging a special super-heavy suit for him. When their trust was at their highest, Leto engineered a vulnerability into the armor before his next fight, causing his untimely demise. As a punishment for their "mistake", Leto's left arm was severed. Once they were able to create a crude prosthetic (with the assistance of the in-house enchantress), Leto took the dead contestant's armor, refitted it for themselves, and used it to escape just barely with their life.

Now, they take on any odd-jobs in these new lands they can find, in hopes of one day not only repairing their now tattered armor, but to push its design beyond anything this world has seen before, to truly combine arms and armor into an unstoppable war machine.
